November Show at Harbor Village Gallery

We are pleased to announce that Margy is the Featured Artist of the Month for November, 2017 at Harbor Village Gallery in Ventura, California. The gallery is located at 1559 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, CA 93001, in the courtyard near Ventura Dive & Sport and across from Ventura Swimwear. (805-644-2750)

The show is right in time for the holidays, and will be highlighted by this beautiful coastal scene, a watercolor and pastel masterpiece that is truly stunning in person — you’ll have to come and see it for yourself! (This photo does not do it justice, and I’ll sheepishly admit that I forgot to photograph it before it was framed, so a few reflections are visible here on the website.) The detail, the richness of the colors enhanced with pastels is truly beautiful. The painting was done in 1988, after Margy and a few fellow artists took a painting trip up the California coast, and I am proud to present it now.

Also in the November show we’ll feature, for the first time, some very unique limited-edition handmade earrings. For years, Margy made ceramic beads and used them in various applications in her art. Some were pressed into very old chess pieces, others into hand-carved wood block, giving each a unique texture. I have used these beads with wood, shells, or crystals and created 8 pairs of earrings – the first artistic collaboration between my mom and I! And we only have eight!

Since the holidays are nigh, we will also have Margy’s collection of 5 x 7 holiday cards available, including this years’ image which features a gorgeous poinsettia. This is the third consecutive year we have done the holiday cards and they have been a big hit. Sold in packs of 10 cards per set, or available individually.

All of this will be accompanied by smaller original watercolors, a few giclée prints, and the books Margy illustrated with Cave Art Press in Washington – Exploring the Salish Sea and Exploring Southern California’s Beaches and Islands.

While you’re in the gallery, peruse the other unique work on display from some of Ventura County’s most creative artists. The gallery has things from unique, handmade greeting cards to sculpture, glass art, watercolors, photography, jewelry and clothing.

On a final note — the month of November will be the last month Margy will have her work on display at the Harbor Village Gallery. We will continue to stock the art bins at the BuenaVentura Art Association gallery in downtown Ventura (located at 700 E Santa Clara St., Ventura, CA 93001with unframed originals and prints, but if you are interested in a variety of framed original “Margy’s” — come into Harbor Village Gallery in the month of November!

And any time of the year, shop this site for unique prints, which, by the way, I can produce in almost any size — if you see a print you want but it is not available in the size you need, please contact me at margygatesart@gmail.com and we can work together to get exactly what you need. Our prices are spectacular for such unique art, and there is something here for anybody on your gift list or for your growing art collection.

Thanks for your patronage,
