Greetings! Finally, a long-overdue update on the happenings and current state of Margy Gates Art.
First of all, we are excited to announce that Margy will be the Featured Artist of the Month at Harbor Village Gallery in Ventura Marina. HVG is an artisan gallery that operates under the umbrella of the non-profit BuenaVentura Art Association in Ventura, CA.
Margy has been one of the 14 artists who participate in Harbor Village Gallery’s cooperative art gallery and gift store, which opened in its’ current location in July 2016. The gallery features artists whose talents include glass, watercolor, fiber arts, oils, acrylics, photography, and jewelry. HVG also features a large collection of unique greeting cards.
Margy’s November show will feature a beautiful watercolor/pastel painted in 1988, after an artists’ camping and painting trip up the California coast. In rich greens and teals, it’s really stunning – and framed in one of Margy’s signature hand-stained frames. Also on display with be smaller watercolors, including a brightly colored abstract in a delightful hand-painted frame that is unique, unique, unique! I have also created 8 pairs of earrings from hand-made ceramic beads Margy has made in the last 30 years, combined with Swarovski crystals, shells, and other beads. These are in very limited supply — when they go, it’s the end of an era.
And finally, we now have 3 holiday cards available! The 2017 card will debut at the gallery starting November. It’s a lush Poinsettia, painted in reds and greens, with beautiful detail.
