We are pleased to announce that Margy is the Featured Artist of the Month for November, 2017 at Harbor Village
Greetings! Finally, a long-overdue update on the happenings and current state of Margy Gates Art. First of all, we are excited to announce that Margy will be the Featured Artist of the Month at Harbor Village Gallery in Ventura Marina. HVG is an artisan gallery that operates under the umbrella of the non-profit BuenaVentura Art Association in Ventura, CA. Margy has been one of the 14 artists who participate in Harbor Village Gallery’s cooperative art gallery and gift store, which opened in its’ current location in July 2016. The gallery features artists whose talents include glass, watercolor, fiber arts, oils, acrylics, photography, and jewelry. HVG also features a large collection of unique greeting cards. Margy’s November show will feature a beautiful watercolor/pastel painted in 1988, after an artists’ camping and painting trip up the California coast. In rich greens and teals, it’s really stunning – and framed in one of Margy’s signature hand-stained frames. Also on display with be smaller
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit the show at Fox Fine Jewelers, you have until May 13th to do so! The show, which was very well-recieved by fans of both Margy Gates and Joe Cibere, officially comes down May 14th, so don’t wait! This is Margy’s last big show — she will continue to display original watercolors, cards, books, and giclee prints at Harbor Village Gallery in Ventura Marina, and will also have her home studio available by appointment, but if you want to see a beautiful show in a beautiful space, time is running short! FOX FINE JEWELERS Fox Fine Jewelry 560 E Main St Ventura, CA 93001 Phone: (805) 652-1800 Monday – Saturday: 10:30am – 7:00pm Sunday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
August 2016 brings really REALLY good news for anyone shopping for fine art giclées. After great deliberation we have decided to reduce prices site-wide on ALL giclée prints. In some cases price reductions are over 50%! Why? Because Margy has been painting for over 60 years, and has reached a point in her life where she wants more people to have access to art. This leaves no excuse to not own a Margy Gates today! For example – our best deal is her 7×10 prints, which have been reduced to a mere $35. When framed, a 7×10 print is more like 17×20 — the perfect size for small spaces, dorm rooms, and boats, just to name a few. Margy’s subject matter varies from ocean to mountain, from the Channel Islands to the French countryside, from the ubiquitous image of laundry drying on the line in the Fiji Islands to a unique and colorful view of Ojai Rooftops. Never stuck in a
Greetings from Margy Gates Art! We have exciting news — Margy is once again available via brick and mortar. She was recently invited to be one of 14 select artists in a new gallery in Ventura Marina, Harbor Village Gallery and Gifts. Located in the marina’s busy Harbor Village, it’s just below the Comedy Club and down from Milano’s Restaurant. HVG has maintained a gallery presence for years at the north end of the Ventura Marina, but the new gallery is in a better, more centrally located space, where Margy now has a permanent display. As self-appointed Art Manager, I, Alison, will be volunteering roughly once a week at the gallery, proudly representing my mom and the other 13 talented artists in Harbor Village Gallery and Gifts. Original creations on display include sculpture, watercolor, pen and ink drawings, ceramics, jewelry, hand-painted hats and clothing, and many beautiful greeting cards, as well as stuff that defies any standard description. I am excited

You can get 8 of the same image, or a mixed set that contains 2 cards of each image. Sets are available for $15.00 each, plus tax and shipping. (Note: If you are local to the Oxnard area and want to avoid shipping costs, drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can arrange to get them to you.) The party at Sea Gate Art Gallery and Studio on Sunday October 25th was lots of fun, as those of you who were there are aware! Starting at 4pm and winding up somewhere around 9, people came and went, or stayed to visit, sipped wine and lemonade, munched on cookies and some of the higher-class appetizers friends had brought (thank you Judy, Alice, and Natalie!) A few people wisely wandered through the gallery to the beach and enjoyed the wonderful sunset. To top it off, the moon gave us a huge showing. In the latter part of the evening friend John brought out his guitar, and he and I and Michelle sang Beatles songs and other un-rehearsed stuff and had a nice time tucked in one of the gallery’s tiny corners. A lot of people bought art, and Margy was thrilled to see so many of her originals, prints, ceramics and even a few posters go to good homes. A lot of people mentioned
After more than 35 years in the gallery business, Sea Gate Art Gallery & Studio on Hollywood Beach in Oxnard is finally closing it’s doors at the end of October. Margy’s funky beach gallery has been a favorite of locals and weekend visitors, where she offered up a fun and interesting collection of everything from $2 seashells to used and handmade jewelry to original framed watercolors and beautiful ceramics. She opened her first gallery in the 1980’s in the Marine Emporium Landing on Harbor Blvd. after moving out of the family house (with a lovely ceramic studio) in Claremont and onto a boat in Oxnard in 1978. A gallery space gave her room to paint and a place to sell her work, and was a lot easier than painting on the dock box in the wind. She later moved next door to Mrs. Olson’s Coffee Hut on Los Altos, sharing the space with a clothing company that sold cotton clothes that
Sunday September 20th was a great night at the Waterside Restaurant in Channel Islands Harbor, CA, as we shared great food and listened to Kelly’s Lot play great music, and had a chance to bid on some great things in the Silent Auction, all to bring awareness to FTD — Frontal Temporal Dementia. Margy donated a stunning original piece that had been held in her private collection for almost 20 years, Alison’s Reef II, which went in the silent auction for $2000 to help raise money for FTD. In all, the evening brought in over $7000 for the cause, and we are so glad Karine Adalian, who hosted the event and will host others in years to come (and whose sister has been afflicted with this diabolical disease) had such a good turnout and support from friends and neighbors in the area. Welcome to Margy Gates Art.com! We are thrilled to introduce Margy’s new website with all of it’s beautiful features, including actual PayPal buttons. You can now buy a limited edition, high quality, fine art giclee print by Margy Gates Art in various sizes, and within about 3 weeks, have it delivered to your doorstep! All prints are sold unframed. Because of the complexity and personal nature of selecting mats and frames, and because shipping a framed print with glass is expensive, we’ve opted to let you work directly with your favorite framer and thereby get exactly what you want. This site is one of the formats offered by WordPress.com, and is, in essence, a blog. The main purpose of the site is to showcase Margy’s art, and make the giclee prints and her books available for sale, but here in the blog section we can add news and highlights, post new art that we’ve added to the site, and in
