Fall Update – Move Complete!

Thanks for visiting our site.

What a month it’s been — we’ve had parties and sales and moved lots of boxes, given away tons of supplies and furnishings, and finally — Sea Gate Art Gallery and Studio officially closed its doors on November 14, 2015, ending an era. That night, Margy slept for 10 hours!

Yesterday, November 16th, the Ventura County Star, our local newspaper, did a 2-page write-up on Margy, which has garnered a lot of attention and brought some old friends out of the woodwork. That’s what we had hoped – because the gallery may be closed, but Margy Gates Art is still alive and well!

Margy has a large collection of original art, framed and unframed, and will continue to create new works in her studio. This original art is available by contacting and working directly with her. She also has a large stock of frames, which she can customize for each painting if you would like, and can recommend an excellent framer in the area to put it all together.

She will also be partnering with several galleries. As the move is fresh, (and the holidays loom!) she is still working on exactly what will be where; but she is affiliated with the Buenaventura Art Association, The Channel Islands Maritime Museum, and Studio Gallery. (Information below.)

And of course, a beautiful collection of high quality giclée prints is available on this site in multiple sizes. Custom sizes can also be produced by special arrangement.

And, I say again — the holidays loom! This site has lots to offer for gifts this season – skip the malls and Amazon and get something wonderful and unique! All giclée prints are shipped unframed, and you have plenty of time to get them framed and wrapped for a very special gift. Also, two books are available, written and published by Cave Art Press and illustrated by Margy: Exploring Southern California’s Beaches and Islands, and Exploring the Salish Sea.

More will be coming in 2016, and we hope that you will, at the very least, enjoy your visit to our site and get lost — just for a little while — in Margy’s beautiful art.

Thanks, Alison

Ps. That wonderful picture above was taken at the final, final farewell party, as the sun was setting on the beach and reflecting in the old gallery window. I think it perfectly captures Margy’s mood to have had so many wonderful years in this space, and to now be ready to say goodbye.
