Anacapa Arch

Anacapa Arch Channel Islands National Park watercolor painting Margy Gates

This was the first in a series of Anacapa Arch paintings. Anacapa is the first of four National Park islands off the coast of Southern California; and is the breeding area for Brown Pelicans on its western end. In the Chumash Indian language, the name of the arch translates to “House of the Pelicans.” Original Watercolor
